Local Food. Local Jobs.

What is the WFNA?

We are an alliance  started on January 3, 2009 of individuals dedicated to the re-localization of our food supply, fuel and economy.

Since then thousands of people have started food gardens and are demanding locally grown food.

In 2015 we started the

20-Year Plan

The Problem:

Within living memory, our family farmers fed much of the world. Today, without importing food from other countries, we can barely feed ourselves. Our rural communities are void of economic opportunities because the globalist economic model we’ve embraced has driven away our income, our children, and our very future.

The pursuit of infinite profit on a finite and fragile planet is a dead end. No one else has a plan for anything, much less one that restores ownership of food networks to the people.  We must retrace the original process of locally owned food hub creation. A triple-bottom line approach to land stewardship democratizes responsibility for food security, and returns prosperity to “We the People.”

Every human being has three spheres of relationship: with their personal Source/Creator, with family and community, and with Nature. No exceptions. True health means regaining balance so that all will Prosper. Conversely, as we continue damaging relationships in any sphere, our health in every sphere is harmed. Health is the touchstone for measuring everything: restore the soil, return the youth, revive our heritage.

Civilization is three meals deep.

Your interest and involvement in this enterprise is worth the time. Let us walk together, talk together, play together, pray together and work for a better world. Those wanting to make donations or volunteer in the FRC Movement should read Wendell Berry’s, “The Unsettling of America.”

Keeping it Local

Demand for each watershed’s uniquely branded products will fund a sustainable economic model. Each farm still works as a stand-alone business and benefits as consumer awareness grows through the restoration plan. A family farm is defined, roughly, as personal ownership with personal risk, and remains locally managed. The owner, or family, is actively engaged in the farm activity. Building regional market volume depends on rebuilding lost infrastructure. The congress structure protects against corporate monopolization and political corruption.

The Answer

The FRC 20-Year Plan is the template. Government by consent of the governed is co-joined with food and energy freedom. There is no other way. All concepts of Liberty and Constitution are reduced to abstractions without regaining these fundamental capabilities. There are no short cuts. The original process of farm settlement and wealth creation must begin anew.  It’s just Common Sense.

Food Security means completely, yet responsibly, divorcing ourselves from the technologies and powers that are destroying our planet.

The plan is simple and very doable for everyday people.  We have a sufficient asset base for autonomous food and energy freedom already in our hands.  We must simply take the steps necessary to do three things:

First, Retain the Land.

In the next 20 years, some $200 billion dollars of regional assets will change hands. Land owners without heirs, or those looking for a worthy cause, or desire to protect their common heritage from outside interests, need no longer deed their property to the Sierra Club, Conservation Department, Nature Conservancy, or pass it to shirt-tail relatives. Those living in cities can consider tithing a small portion of any real property.  Each volunteer-led Land Trust is charged with restoring the soil and with establishing food and energy independence within their own watershed.

Second, Resettle the Youth & Displaced Vets.

After a competitive selection process candidates apprentice with participant families or businesses in a two year program. After a satisfactory completion of terms, an apprentice can then receive a life/land lease on available Trust Lands. When responsible stewards of the Land adhere to sustainable principles, all profit.

Third, Restore Land Management to the People.

Each local, public Land Trust Congress is inclusive and All participants vote yearly to coordinate their own 20-year plan. Each Trust is administered in public, with no outside money, no political parties, no secret ballots. No larger controlling body is necessary. For over 700 years, in valley by Alpine valley, Swiss farmers have openly handled their own affairs on the village green, and so can we.

Food Freedom and Security = One Million New Jobs.

Sustainable Economy

Value Chains are created to restore community resilience. Benefits circulate locally and result in fungible programs for producers and small businesses. This prevents the corporate consolidation of agriculture and restores jobs and fair wages. Money remains in our own hands longer.

Sustainable Community

Reviving our independently-owned food chains, the return of grassroots jobs, and the restoration of individual liberty come together in this plan. Proper stewardship means we pass the land on to future generations in better condition than in which we found it.  In this way we serve the Earth!

Sustainable Environment

Everything begins with healthy soil, pure water, and clean air. Rapidly developing bio-soil tools (soil health enhancers) present a fundamental shift in profitable and sustainable agriculture. A process of restoring natural fertility is the basis for regaining wealth and societal health.

The 20-Year Plan

for Food Security

Year 1

*       Increase yield on existing acreage. This is an asset base with extraordinary potential for creating Producer Originated Distribution Systems (PODS) and local ownership of all aspects of food hub development.

*  Begin Youth Farm Apprentice Program

*    Rehabilitate distressed land and restore increased nutrient density to our food.

*         Reduce chemical load by diminished use of synthetics. Product differentiation standards can be set.

Year 2

*     Network small and middle-sized producers.

*            Reduce water usage by increase of soil carbon content through locally produced bio-char soil amendments.

*                Congresses enlarge, processors merge, distributors, wholesalers, consumers and retailers unite to form a Value Chain while preserving private ownership. Period.

*    Based on a Whole Watershed Plan that they develop, congresses aggregate key infrastructure. Locally-owned banks begin funding.

Year 3

*  Restore key product processing facilities

  *   First mobile multi-species processing units

*  Democratic Coop development based on growing capital in the system.

*  First wave apprentices resettle community trust lands begin businesses. These apprentice/stewards will begin training new recruits.

Year 4 thru 20

*  Cash flow increases with consistent supply to scale. Lobby for friendly, small farm regulatory compliance.

*  Be open to making adjustments along the way.

What is a Producer Originated Distribution System?

A PODS is a way individual farmers can get to scale by using their combined strengths. Each watershed creates consumer value as it becomes segregated by differentiation but mutually benefits all producers within the marketplace by common branding. Organized to deliver efficiency, processors can now structure deals to get funding they cannot get from “Big Banks.” This is a sustainable, grassroots economic model that continues to build the Value Chain.

What is a Value Chain?

A Value Chain is the whole series of activities that create the capital required to bring a finished product to market. The total value delivered is the sum total of the value built up at every step along the way.

Everyone who contributes to the Value Chain profits. Production, delivery, processing, and finishing are all locally done, and then sold to a local grocery store or regional chain.

The money all stays within the region. All of the companies, and their employees, benefit from their participation in the Value Chain. In this way, the local economy is developed, which in turn, supports many other businesses.

A sustainable economic model is created when businesses in the chain appreciate each other. The FRC 20-Year Plan brings back the entire economy. Now you can buy that Lazy-boy from the furniture store down on the town square.

Restoring the Health of the Soil

The 20-Year Plan makes extensive use of various bio-soil amendments.

By reintroducing beneficial microbes and fungi to the soil, plant roots are assisted in the up take of nutrients.  bio-soil micro-organisms, when combined with bio-char (carbon), nourish the soil for decades, are not leached by rainwater or subsequent crops.

The result is healthier, more nutrient dense, better tasting food. Clean rivers, lakes, and streams, and a healthier ecosystem can sustain high quality food production for generations to come.

The combined use of new and old best farming practices will contribute to the restoration of rural communities. The Farm Resettlement Congress 20-Year Plan is the answer. It is the template for a biological and business approach to restoring hope for a peaceful, prosperous, inclusive and sustainable future.
