Celebrating the Freedom to Read



SW MO citizens will commemorate Banned Books Week by recognizing Mark Crispin Miller NYU professor & his project: Forbidden Bookshelf Book Series.

Mark Crispin Miller curator selects books bringing disappeared books back to life by republishing as EBooks with updated introduction. Please join us as we focus on five historically important books:

  • · A 12 minute video about the Forbidden Bookshelf will precede the discussions.
  • · The Lords of Creation: The History of America’s 1 Percent by Frederick Lewis Allen. Led by Lincoln Justice & Rachel Garner
  • · Science of Coercion: Communication Research & Psychological Warfare, 1945–1960 by Christopher Simpson. Led by Patricia Tursi, PhD.
  • · Blowback: America’s Recruitment of Nazis and Its Destructive Impact on Our Domestic and Foreign Policy by Christopher Simpson. Led by TBA
  • · Deadly Deceits: My 25 Years in the CIA by Ralph W. McGehee A veteran of two and a half decades with the Central Intelligence Agency unmasks the culture of lethal lies at its foundation in this devastating expose, now with a new foreword by David MacMichael. Led by Sue Skidmore
