To many forum categories?

Just curios if any one else feels a bit over whelmed with number of forum categories on the site?

From my experience starting, running and moderating various forums over the years I have found that it is better to have fewer categories and expand them as the community needs. Fewer categories caters to more people seeing and reading posts.

Here is my suggestion:

Raising Animals

Food Preservation

Community Gatherings

Politics

Other/Everything Else/ Off Topic

Site Suggestions/Feedback

more categories could be added if/when the need arose.

Too many?
Not enough IMHO.
I am always having to post in a semi-applicable category.

Many forums allow you to use a heirachal structure and this helps reduce
the clutter when you have a lot of categories.

But on second thought... for the amount of traffic we have here, your suggestions might work quite well.
