Well Fed Neighbor

Local Food. Local Jobs.

Here's a great article about seed origins and who owns what seed and gardening companies. It is an eye-opening read!
This really underscores the need to know who you do business with- from the food you eat to the seed you plant. I see this as another reason for the strong growth in small family owned and run companies; there are real people who are passionate and knowledgeable about their business on the other end of the phone.

This article made me want to stand up and cheer! Thanks :-)

I really wish someone would find a way to sue these GMO companies for polluting the natural seed banks of the earth.  There is no way they can control the flow of pollen from their plants and their genetic modifications are polluting any heirloom varieties which they come into contact.  These same companies are suing farmers for using their seeds and saving them, and the burden of proof is on the farmer not the company.  We are in very scary times indeed.
