I love planting in the phases of the Moon. Here's a great link that explains it so wonderfully. I used this calendar last year with great success. http://www.gardeningbythemoon.com/phases.html

I love to use the Stella Natura Bio-dynamic calendar, which plants root, leaf, flower or fruit veggies as the Moon passes through the Zodiac. This technique was developed by Rudolph Steiner and Maria Thun.

Following the Farmers' Almanac is easy enough - planted above ground crops last Tuesday and Wednesday according to the sign of the moon, and will plant root crops next Wednesday. Glad for the rain this weekend!

The Kitchen Community Garden is looking for volunteers from 10-2 on Friday. We are going to build a raised bed, plant carrots and beets, and clean out the herb bed. The garden is located in front the Kitchen Free Clinic on Jefferson & Pacific Street (between Commercial & Division). We have plenty of tools in the shed for your use, but you may want to bring some gloves. Hope to see you in the garden!

Maya and I had a great time yesterday at Rutledge Wilson Farm. We signed up for all 6 of the Roots and Shoots classes put on by the MU Extension Center. Tomorrow is National-Ag day and Easter at the Farm.

I'm so excited!!! We're growing bio-dynamically this year and I just ordered my preps from The Josephine Porter Institute. I also ordered the Stella Natura planting calendar.

Hi Folks!

Here's a neat 3 minute video describing an exciting and powerful idea !

"OOOOBY - Out Of Our Own Back Yard, a local food and food distribution system. Very cool! "

I hope I won't break WFNA netiquette by posting this on several different Group sites; I don't want anyone to miss it!

Be sure and check out my post on TOOLS. You'll want to read it.

Well folks, I am getting a late start on everthing it seems. I decided to sprout things in doors since we are getting a late start. Most of our seeds are Baker Creek and we will be using some from last years crop to see how they work out. Right now we have some beans and Broccli sprouting. Now the question is, how do you keep yourself from eating the sprouts? He,he. I am putting them in the little petemoss planting discs.

We are also going to turn part of our lawn into garden as well and look forward to learning more about "square foot gardening". Any tips would be a blessing.
