It's spring, so the phones are going crazy at Wickman's! Most calls start with "Do you have _____________ yet?" I wish we could say yes every time, but it just isn't so!

Of course all the basics are in - onion plants, seed potatoes, asparagus crowns (even some purple this year!) garlic, bundles of strawberry plants and seed racks from four different companies (including Baker Creek and organic seed).

Rhubarb divisions arrive next week. Most of the Stark Bros. fruit trees are now potted and ready to go. (In case you didn't know - Stark Bros. is a Missouri company.) Grapes & brambles have been slow to ship this year - frustrating for us & our customers! We expect the bare root brambles to arrive very soon, but still have a few potted plants available now.

Bulk compost is expected to come in mid-April. We ARE trying to find a supplier that offers product earlier in the season at a reasonable price. The Back-To-Nature bagged compost we offer is an excellent product though. I add a couple of shovelfuls every time I put a transplant in the garden and have learned to appreciate the convenience of being able to transport bagged products in my little Subaru as opposed to needing a truck every time.

Coir pots, window sill trays and other seed starting supplies are all available in the Garden Center. Tomatoes, peppers and tender herbs can be seeded in pots now. You can get a head start with melons & cucumbers seeded in biodegradable pots too - just don't start them too early or they'll stretch indoors!
