I meant to say definitely a man of many talents! I actually did grad-e-ate the 6th grade you know!
Hi again Matthew! Thanks for a great time this afternoon. I never knew that making maple syrup could be so much fun! You are defiantly a man of many talents and I am thankful to know you.
Thank you Matthew for inviting me over today to see how its done. You have some great kids there that were a delight to be around and were a great help to you. The process is time consuming but not so much as to take away the fun aspect. How many bottles did you process out today? It's a very fine hobby that pays off well in a good food item not normally found here in the Ozarks. Stop by anytime
Here's an article that shows someone near Fellow's Lake making maple syrup. http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2012302020051
We'll be boiling sap probably every Saturday til the season ends. If anyone would like to take a look or just enjoy the sugary steam, let me know.
Everyone getting ready to tap? I'll be ordering some more supplies soon so if you want to jump in with me we can save on shipping costs.
Almost time!
Comment by Joseph's Page on October 21, 2011 at 8:34pm Now is a great time of year to locate trees, gather equipment, and work on your arch (the place that you'll boil the sap to make syrup).
You can do all of these things in the dead of winter, it's just less fun.
Fall tapping is a practice that some use, but it's a bad idea to tap the same tree in both the fall and the spring.
If you're not fall tapping, be aware that "spring tapping" here in the Ozarks can occur as early as Christmas.
