Good time at the Farm on Saturday

Michael & I had a good time out at Gateway Farm on Saturday afternoon into evening. We were able to get a bit of hands on experience with making pickles and relish. We also were able to learn more about how to grow beans.Besides the good learning that we enjoyed, it was also good to see neighbors out there right along with us and we were treated to a delicious picnic dinner! The grilled squash was fantastic!Yes, it was a hot day. The air conditioning was continuous in the house and there…See More

Very interesting, Teri, that there is a seed vault with that incredible number of seeds being protected. My question would be, of course, has Monsanto had their finger on any of them? If so, it will only carry that curse on into perpetuity... Sigh...

Seeds found in excavations of tombs in Egypt and Israel and other locations have been found to be still viable. It demonstrates the importance of seeds back through the ages and confirms that we must also preserve these necessary seeds of life for ourselves, our children and the future of those who come many years into the future... Teri, my meeting starts at 6pm, but I will be there setting up earlier. I don't know if there will be much movie left by the time I pack up after a 2-hr. meeting, but I will try to have a 'howdy' if at all possible. I will be in attendance at the Jan. 30th session at the library on the kichen garden creation, so perhaps we will meet up then! Mimi

Thanks for the friend invite, Teri. I think we met at a meeting of the OGBC last year. I am the papermaker with plant fibres, working mainly in hemp and switchgrass, and planning on creating the watermill in the Branson area for educational tours, all green construction-all green production. I believe you are Gladewinds? I want to attend the movie on Jan.20 but am doing a lecture at the same location on papermaking with plants for the Springfield Fibre Artists: if the speaker is not too windy, I may catch part of it! Ha, ha! Mimi
