See it.... believe it.... make it happen
Watching the Superbowl last night i was reminded. Odds were with the Colts. No reason they couldn't have walked out of there Superbowl champs. Why didn't it happen? Because when down, the Saints decided to SEE victory and then work backwards from that reality to put together the focus, the determination and the actions to make it happen. That's it! Once they "decided" that the outcome was to be different, it happened...... second quarter on!
This is the way it is with the Well-Fed Neighbor. In one year look how far we've come! Are odds with us? No way! We are horribly underfunded for this quest. We are under-staffed, and yet, we have the State asking us to take our 1000 Gardens Campaign State-wide, We've started the Grow Local, Buy Local, Eat Local campaign that is beginning to make a difference, We've set the Missouri Restoration Tour in motion. ( designed to educate, motivate and recruit local producers, processors, merchants and consumers ), we are creating the Sustainability Handbook designed to help cities, townships and counties become sustainable with respect to local food and economy, we've given birth the Missouri Restoration Party, under which politicos from all walks can meet for the common good and, through which, we will bring our message of city, township, county and state-wide food and economic sustainability to the powers that be, and finally, this week, we will give birth to the Well-Fed Neighbor Farmers' Coop, our economic engine of change, through which we will funnel local products from our 27 county food-shed to the consumers, schools, hospitals and businesses of our area. The Coop is perfectly timed to be a game changer!
Why is all this happening? Because trends for locally grown food demand it, because global economics is a failed model for thousands who set at home without jobs..... if they still have a home, because we are realizing that Me/Mine has not gotten us far..... a host of reasons. We are living in a historic time, a perfect storm! I honestly believe that the change in our food system will be as historic as the Civil War!
