Aubree, Good luck on your pepper starts. We normally start ours in late Feb. Seems to me that if I don't get them started early and up to a large size we don't get colored peppers until late in the season. I rechecked the Clydes garden planter and show March 22 for starting peppers and tomatoes indoors but for us anyway a good 2to 3 weeks earlier works best for the peppers. Having said this I realize that most people around here go by Clydes and always have a good crop and I know you will too. By the way good luck on this years Kitchen community Garden.
A big shout out to Aubrey and all those who helped get The Herb Garden sponsored by the Herb Society at The Kitchen Community Garden back in shape. You all did a terrific job! There was much weeding and cleaning up that was done. GREAT JOB!!! Thank you so much!!!
Yes, I do plan to post the video [Harvest Dreams] on the site. I need to make some minor adjustments and render it into a form that makes it readily accessible to the viewers. Hopefully I'll be able to complete that work some time this week.
Your input has enhanced the message of the piece and I wish to honor you for all of your work with your various endeavors through Well-Fed Neighbor.
Hi Aubree. It was good to meet you today and thank you for putting up with me. I see we are already friends on Well Fed Neighbor? I guess I already knew you are a nice lady. : ) Oh, the greenhouse is great!!! Looking forward to seeing you again. Have fun gardening. Gary
Thanks Aubree - great to meet you too! I am super anxious to help in any way I can! Also, by husband is in marketing & is a power point genius and said he'd be willing to help w/power points and related activities. He's a WFN member, Greg Goodale, just let us know!
Yes, I do and I also know how fortunate I am to be able to do it. One of my goals is to help others who want to be at home, who are caught in the "gotta have the newest, biggest, most expensive" whatever, see the light and move towards a more family based life. Meals at the table at least once a day if not more, etc. I could get on a soap box, but I pretty sure I don't need to for you. :- )
I am so happy to have found the Well Fed Neighbor Alliance. Five years in the waiting.
Yes, we will be at the Picnic, God Willing and the Creek don't rise.
Hi Aubree - so sorry I did not get back with you on this. Just found it... And you did have something already scheduled with one of the gardens at the same time as I did the pour last Wednesday... I will have piccys soon and will pass some along to you! Mimi
Kansas City has so much potential but, it can be hard to get different groups to work together. I am doing Transition full-time and going to city meetings to encourage urban ag. I am also trying to go to events with Transition Kaw Valley (Lawrence, KS) Did you talk with Zaida from New Mexico?
Aubree, we will pour the Earth Garden at l:30pm, Wednesday the 28th, if the weather cooperates. The news forecast looks good... It is the best day for planting anyway - full moon... Hope your plans with the Native Plants Garden was successful... Mimi
Hello Aubree - since it has gotten so late to make a commitment with Weaver for the 27th and have not heard that it had been firmed up, I have to decline this year. My schedule has been so full with Earth Day events, etc., and that is a good thing! The Earth Garden pour was a "failed" attempt yesterday with the weather putting the site under water! I say, "failed," but it was really a very successful day: I got all the recycle papers pulped up and ready to go - and I got to read my Earth Day books to 5 different classes! So, I sowed seeds in a very different way yesterday - through the young people who will take these important messages to heart and be more careful with their world we are leaving them as caretakers when we are gone... Take care and next year I will be available to read for Earth Day events if needed... Mimi P.S. We will pour the Earth Garden next week - I will let you know the day, probably Wednesday. Jackson says it is best mid-week for planting...
Mornin' Aubree - I am so sorry but Earth Day week is now totally full of commitments. It would be so much easier if I were local - I am driving the wheels off my poor little "Zucchini!" (My mom could never remember Suzuki so always called it a Zucchini - now everyone else does to!) The Earth Garden pour will be about 1pm on the 22nd. Come on out and be part of the event! I can come and read at Weaver possibly on Tuesday, the 27th. Can you get me some more details, such as time frame, number of students, location in school and location of school... Get right back to me on that if you will. Sorry I can't join in at Hummert's tomorrow. Plan to be in Branson for that WFN effort. I know Joanna Burdoff very well... Mimi
